Firewall

A firewall is a specialized program that protects your system against hackers and unwanted network activity (some have more advanced capabilities). OS X 10.3 and above already contains a decent firewall with moderate protection against incoming connections only (this is important for hacker protection). These programs below offer more detailed protection, outgoing connection protection, and more advanced protection. It is important to note that firewalls do not offer dedicated protection against viruses, spyware or malware, but they can help. Also note that the firewall in OS X is disabled by default. We recommend to enable it, especially if you do not use another firewall.
