It's almost unnecessary to use security software on any Linux distro, unless operating a server, because it is built on a very secure platform and Linux is an overall unpopular operating system for most people; hence, there are not many security options out there! Hackers and criminals just don't tend to target these systems. Keep in mind, however, that it is still possible!
-
Even though Linux is very secure by nature, the likelihood of a Linux-based virus or malware to infect (or even to exist on) a Linux system is very low. There is no 100% secure operating system. Therefore, we recommend if you do not have any protection that you download ClamTK, a removal program, just to scan your system every so often for malware.

In addition, Linux already has a built-in firewall called iptables. The firewall software "Gufw" (above) exists on PhoenixUSB to serve as a graphical user interface for iptables, just to make it easy to configure.

As a final note, these products are important for Windows and Mac malware detection and removal. Even though these malware types cannot run on or infect a Linux system, they can be spread through email, USB, and networking. ESET NOD32 (above) has the ability to scan for and remove (in real time as well) Windows, Mac, and Linux malware.
