Anti-Virus

The term and category "Anti-Virus" means many things. An Anti-Virus program offers real-time dedicated protection against and removal of (at least) viruses, worms, (and generally) spyware, rootkits and malware as well. It does not usually have a firewall. Sometimes application developers throw in a few "extra layers" like ID protection, some networking protection or sandboxing if the product wasn't free. For most OS X users who wish to use a security program at all, an anti-virus program should suffice.
